Solstice Roses

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”

This is Eglantine, or Sweet Briar Rose. The flowers don't have a scent, but the leaves smell of green apples!

The second rose is Paul's Himalayan Musk - perfumed so sweetly! It's a good morning to be in my garden.

Here's a pic of William Baffin (an Explorer Rose) blooming in front of a birdhouse I painted several years ago.  I love the nest inside!
