Winner!

Woo hoo! My crazy quilt, "Crazy Diamonds", won first place in the Great American Embroidered Quilt contest at the American Quilters' Society show in Knoxville, TN. I am very pleased!

Here's the full shot of the quilt, which measures 59 x 77. It is completely hand done. All hand pieced, hand embroidered.

And a detail. The face is painted onto silk and the embroidery surrounding the face is silk thread. The bonnet is dimensional, it is stuffed to give it volume. The bodice of the dress is as well. The good news came during a tough week. Yay.

You well deserved the prize with your gorgeous work. I love hand made quilts, did you assemble your quilt according to paper piecing method?

Congratulations on a well deserved win! This is an exquisite quilt! My very favorite of the antique CQs I restored was done similarly. It had 1" black velvet ribbon as sashing between the diamond blocks and very small patches of silk in the cqing. I so wish I had taken pictures of it!

Hi Betty

Your quilt is gorgeous and you certainly deserve the prize.

I have always treasured the classes I have been able to take with you. I often tell people you are one of the best cq teachers out there today. You keep that class moving and we finish what you want us to. that doesn't always happen.

Special hugs for the win.
Couldn't happen to a nicer gal.

Awesome piece Betty! Congrats!

Funny ... about a month ago I started contemplating a diamond-shaped project ... did the Portholes one with DD in mid as the recipient ... and was thinking of diamonds for DS ... kinda crazy/sane crossover. Yours is and inspiration in that direction!
Great midns think alike!
